Starting January 27 through until February 9th the EWG Middle School will play host to the Wood Chuck. Through the Department of Wellness, Culture and Sports Arts Development Branch an application was approved to have Chuck Bernard come into EWG and work with the students to develop their own personal carvings with a cultural theme. Each student in grades 6-8 will receive two hours of instruction and have the opportunity to use carving tools to create their own design. On Jan. 27th and 28th the woodcarver will be set up in the Cultural Center displaying his creations and carving.

In 2005, the Wellness Branch (GNB Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport) partnered with the Health and Education Research Group (HERG) to embark upon a multi-year initiative entitled the New Brunswick Student Wellness Survey (NBSWS), with the cooperation of the Francophone and Anglophone sectors of the Department of Education. The NB Student Wellness Survey is a key project of the NB Wellness Strategy: Live well, be well, and is conducted with students in Grades 4 - 12 and parents of students in Kindergarten to Grade 5.

Things are happening at EWG and the BUZZ is this; This Sunday, Dec. 12th the Saint John Mill Rats will be holding a clinic right here at EWG...see news below about registration details...The Food Drive is running until next Friday, Dec. 17th...The cafeteria staff are once again holding a FREE Turkey Dinner on Tues.

The students and staff of EWG are keeping with tradition and once again are supporting the local area food bank with a school wide food drive. Your generous support is needed to help make this a success. From December 1st until the 17th the students will be collecting non-perishable food items and for each item they bring in, they will receive a ballot to win a prize. We hope you can help us out by sending in or dropping off your food donation.

Due to the generous support of The Cooperators, the Eleanor W. Graham Middle School played host to Mitch Dorge on Tuesday, Nov. 2nd. Mr. Dorge is a parent, a Juno award winner, Grammy nominee and drummer of the "Crash Test Dummies". He delivered an energy filled presentation on making good choices, being your best and never underestimating your potential.

On Thursday, Nov. 4th  from 6:00-8:00pm and Friday, Nov. 5th from 9:00am-12:00pm, teachers at Eleanor W. Graham will be holding their parent/teacher interviews. All parents are encouraged to attend and we look forward to seeing you. There will be no classes for students on Friday, Nov. 5th but will resume again on Monday, Nov. 8th. Report cards were sent home with the students on Wednesday.

District 16 middle school students in the Rexton  area will be looking forward to returning to classes in September as their modern new school is very nearly finished. The new Eleanor W. Graham Middle School building in addition to 13 classrooms, includes: a cultural center, library, science lab, art room, technology center, stage, and specialized music room; features that did not exist in the former building. In addition the  EWGMS community raised $100 000 and as a result its new indoor physical activity facility is 3 times the size of the former school’s gymnasium.
