The staff at the EWG Middle School would like to invite all parents and guardians to an open house session on Thursday, September 27th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.  This session will begin with a chance to mingle with teachers and enjoy some refreshments and snacks.  This will be followed by the opportunity to meet with your son's or daughter's teachers in the classroom so teachers can explain the curriculum and academic expectations for the 2012-2013 school year.

You should be receiving notices this week that are being sent by Public Health.   1)  An immunization clinic will be offered for students who did not receive the pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine last year.        If this is of interest to you, and you do not get the notice, you may call the school.   2)  A second notice will be given to the grade 7 girls only for the Gardasil vaccine.  If you do not receive this notice and the attached pamphlet     please contact the school

Sept 6th special:  Chicken Fingers with potatoes/rice and vegetables , milk or jus $5.00  ( $5.25 with pudding or jello)                            Pizza   Sept 7th Special:  Quesadillas and drink $5.00 ($5.25 with pudding or jello)                            Chicken Burgers   Hamburgers, cheeseburger,wraps and sandwiches are available every day.    The only increase in prices are the specials. The new weekly menu will be handed out to the students for Monday and it will also be posted on the site.    If you have any specific questions please call the school.

Welcome Back Students!!   Tuesday Sept. 4th:  Teachers will be attending Professional Development meetings.  Students have no school.   Wednesday Sept. 5th:  Grade 6 only are attending.  They can get aquainted with their new school and teachers.                                            Spaghetti lunch with drink will be provided at the cafeteria free of charge.   Thursday Sept. 6th and Friday Sept. 7th:  All grades 6, 7 and 8 will return for regular school days.  Cafeteria will be open for regular service.

Parents, family and community members attended the official opening and dedication of the school's gymnasium on Wednesday, June 20th. The students and staff paid tribute to the wonderful work and dedication that went in to the expansion. Honored guests were treated to a luncheon in the atrium followed by entertainment performed by present and former students. Mr. Scully paid tribute to the Magnificent 7, Sharon McDonald, Johanne Robertson, Kim Beers, Margaret Perry, Vicki Leger, Jan Manger and Nora Wilson. Nineteen of Nora's family members were on hand to accept those tokens of appreciation.

Eleanor W. Graham Food Services is hiring to fill a position at Bonar Law Memorial School Cafeteria as Floor Manager and cook, beginning in September.This position will require the daily operation of the cafeteria as well as being responsible for the main course meal, maintaining the cash, food orders and making a daily deposit at the Rexton Credit Union.Approximately 35hrs per week, salary will be discussed.Must have the National Food Safety Course and experience in cooking for a large number of people.

The Miramichi Kinsmen and School District 16 are pleased to accept film entries for the second annual Kin Film Festival.  All School District 16 students are invited to participate.  Films can be submitted in one of two categories: Open and The Kinsmen Category (The Communities Greatest Need).  The top 10 films in each category will be screened on May 12th, 2012 at Miramichi Empire Studio 5.  Cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100 will be awarded for the winners in each category.

EWG has a TATU club! This group of students with the assistance of Health Canada and the Elsipogtog Health Center was started to raise awareness of the negative effects of tobacco misuse! The group designed their own t-shirts and are working on a campaign for their school to bring information to their peers and help them stay smoke free!

EWG students literally received a taste of the Acadian and First Nation culture last week. On Tuesday, they celebrated bilingual day. Some students displayed bilingual signs throughtout the building, we had tradtional food samplings of fricot, poutines and rapee and during activity period Remi Boudreau the magician did a bilingual magic show where some of our students became his assistant. On Friday, March 30th the students took part in a Pow Wow. Jimmy Augustine a member of the First Nation Elsipogtog was the Master of Ceremony.
