Culture Week at EWG

Posted: April 2, 2012

EWG students literally received a taste of the Acadian and First Nation culture last week. On Tuesday, they celebrated bilingual day. Some students displayed bilingual signs throughtout the building, we had tradtional food samplings of fricot, poutines and rapee and during activity period Remi Boudreau the magician did a bilingual magic show where some of our students became his assistant. On Friday, March 30th the students took part in a Pow Wow. Jimmy Augustine a member of the First Nation Elsipogtog was the Master of Ceremony. The event included elders, the carrying of the flags, the honour song, grass dancers, jingle dancers, senior and junior drummers. At lunch moose meat, salmon, blueberry cake, fiddleheads and molasses cake were made available for sampling. The week was busy but truly a clear picture of what our school dynamic includes. Thank you to the organizers!
