Recently a class of Grade Eight Eleanor W. Graham Middle
School students and two of their
teachers completed a 16 hour Standard First Aid, CPR and AED training
offered by the Saint John Ambulance Training program. This certificate is valid for 3 years and
certifies them to offer emergency first aid, CPR and use an AED which is an
Automated External Defibrillator that can positively improve the survival of
someone who has gone into cardiac arrest. Instruction was provided by Certified
Instructor for Anglophone North Schools, and teacher at EWG, Mr. Paul Mourant.
This training was provided at no cost to the students and was offered each day
for 45 minutes as part of their health program. Each student had to participate
in the theory and practical activities and successfully complete a final exam.
