Letter to Parents and Guardians - Orange Level Alert

Posted: October 11, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Re:  MODIFICATIONS TO HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS DURING ALERT LEVEL ORANGE

This is to inform you of changes to operational plans and health protocols for schools and early learning and childcare facilities when a region or the province is placed on an Orange Alert level.

In our school documents you will find the changes to the guidelines for schools and early learning and childcare facilities.  This document accompanies the Return to School: Direction for School Districts and Schools as well as the Guidance to Early Learning and Childcare Facilities and Summer Camps.

We understand that the nature of the situation can make you anxious. Children and young people look to the adults in their lives to guide them on how to react to worrying and stressful events. Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about any anxieties and remind them to treat one another with kindness and respect, in person and on social media. Here is a link for more information on mental health.

As a reminder, if your child is showing any symptoms of COVID-19, you should:

1.    Register them online for a test by clicking “Get tested” on the GNB corona virus website (www.gnb.ca/coronavirus), or

2.    Contact Tele-Care 811, or

3.    Contact your primary care provider.

The 811 operators, your family doctor or your primary care provider will evaluate your child before sending them for testing.

We are aware that the nature of the situation is distressing and that is why we encourage a climate of compassion and understanding in our community so that together, we can get through this ordeal with understanding. Let's continue to apply Public Health measures and ensure everyone’s safety!

Sincerely,

Gregory Theriault, Principal, Eleanor W Graham Middle School
